School Counselor
We are seeking a compassionate and student-focused School Counselor to support cadets at Massanutten Academy for the 2026–2027 school year. This role provides academic, social, emotional, and behavioral guidance while collaborating with staff, families, and outside providers to promote student well-being and success.

Massanutten Academy is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and student-centered professional to join our team as a School Counselor for the 2026-2027 academic year. Located in the beautiful foothills of the Massanutten Mountains in Woodstock, Virginia, Massanutten Academy provides a structured, supportive environment where students are challenged to achieve academic excellence, develop leadership skills, and grow as responsible citizens.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Master's Degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred
- Experience working with adolescents in a school setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Commitment to fostering student success and well-being
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support to cadets
- Meet regularly with students and maintain accurate counseling records
- Coordinate and facilitate student support services and referrals as needed
- Facilitate virtual therapy sessions and collaborate with outside providers
- Manage and support the Academy's Cadet Mentor Program
- Serve as a member of the Enrollment Review Committee
- Mentor cadets through formal and informal meetings
- Assist with student leadership, character development, and wellness initiatives
- Communicate effectively with parents, faculty, staff, and cadets
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports
- Participate in occasional weekend duties and Academy events
- Adhere to all Academy policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Help maintain and foster a structured, disciplined, and positive school environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration
Employment Requirements
- Successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment
- Ability to meet all employment eligibility requirements
