Weekly Chapel and Religious Life at Massanutten

Founded in 1899 within the Christian tradition, Massanutten Academy continues to honor that heritage while welcoming students from many faith traditions, cultures, and backgrounds.

Weekly Chapel is part of The Massanutten Way and our commitment to educating the whole person. It gives students and faculty time to step away from the pace of Academy life, gather as a community, and reflect on questions of character, conscience, faith, purpose, leadership, and service.

Through messages grounded in our Christian heritage, students explore enduring themes including honesty, courage, compassion, gratitude, forgiveness, responsibility, and service to others.

Our purpose is not to compel belief. We respect the conscience of every student and encourage young people to think seriously about what they believe, the principles that will guide their lives, and the responsibilities they have toward others.

Our historic motto captures that purpose:

Non Nobis Solum — Not for Ourselves Alone.

Every Student Deserves to be Known
At Massanutten Academy, every student matters.  We develop honorable young people of character through an intentionally personal educational experience in which students are known, challenged, encouraged, and supported.

Here, education is purposeful.  Through academics, athletics, leadership opportunities, mentorship, service, and community, students discover their strengths, develop confidence, and learn to accomplish hard things.

We develop young people of character and competence prepared for college, leadership, and life. Honor in Character. Excellence in Purpose. Leadership in Service.

This is The Massanutten Way.

Massanutten Academy is a co-educational, non-profit military boarding and day school in Virginia for students in 8th-12th grades with postgraduate studies. We welcome all faiths and live by our motto: Non Nobis Solum (Not For Ourselves Alone).
