Cadet-planned FTX Builds Bonds and Leadership Skills

Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) - Massanutten cadets traded the classroom for the great outdoors during our Spring Field Training Exercise (FTX). For two days, a group of supervised cadets used their combined mental and physical strength to grow as team members, leaders and people. FTXs are open to cadets willing take initiative in the field. Each activity planned by Battalion Commander Moore allowed them to try their skills and take initiative to find creative solutions. In this experience, they put military tactics to the test learned through our JROTC program in a Capture the Flag showdown and went the distance in the Ruck March.

The experiences gathered at Massanutten help prepare cadets for lifelong success with lessons including:
  • Civics
  • Geography and global awareness
  • Health and wellness
  • Life skills
  • Physical Fitness
  • Character Development
