Middle School Track and Field Sprints to Success in First Meet

Massanutten’s middle school cadets shine in their first track and field meet, showing drive, teamwork, and athletic spirit.
Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) - Massanutten's middle schoolers raced to leave their marks on the leaderboards in their first meet of the year on April 29th.

Our team loaded up the bus to Strasburg High School with confidence and excitement. For many of them, this was the first opportunity to compete in their events. They hustled, cheered and fought for their victories in the match. 

Our Boys team finished 3rd in the match with just 7 athletes total competing in events. Cadet Salgado earned 4th in shot put, 5th in the long jump and 1st in the 100-meter dash. Cadet C. Burgess scored 5th in shot put and 2nd in the 100 meter dash. The two were also joined by Cadets Turner and carver to earn 3nd place in the 4x100 relay. Cadets Walker, Bluestein, Sacarras and Carver also earned 2nd in the 4x400 relay.

Our Girls ended just off the podium in many events. The 4x100 relay team of Cadets Clarke, Hayles, Treese and Beckwith placed 8th. Cadets Clarke and Hayles finished in the middle of the pack in the 100-meter, with  Cadet Hayles also ranking 11th in shot put. Cadet Mohamed finished just behind her in 12th. Cadet Treese came in 8th, and she and cadet Beckwith both finished mid-pack in the 400-meter and gave everything they had for the 800-meter.

High school track is in action for the first time of the season on April 30th, 2025. Middle school track returns to action on May 1st, 2025.
