Massanutten Academy is seeking a caring, organized, and dedicated healthcare professional to serve as our School Nurse / Infirmary Coordinator for the 2026-2027 academic year. Located in the beautiful foothills of the Massanutten Mountains in Woodstock, Virginia, Massanutten Academy provides a structured and supportive environment where students are challenged to achieve academic excellence, develop leadership skills, and maintain healthy lifestyles.
The School Nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of cadets while helping ensure compliance with medical regulations and Academy policies.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) required
  • Current Virginia nursing license in good standing
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Experience working with adolescents preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents, and healthcare providers
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collect, review, and maintain medical documentation, immunization records, medication logs, and allergy information for all cadets
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and Academy policies
  • Monitor and manage student health concerns and respond to medical emergencies
  • Coordinate appointments and accompany cadets to medical, therapy, or specialist appointments as needed
  • Maintain inventory and ordering of medical supplies and infirmary equipment
  • Maintain accurate health records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Assist with health screenings, wellness initiatives, and preventive care programs
  • Schedule and coordinate CPR, First Aid, and medication administration training for faculty and staff
  • Communicate effectively with parents, healthcare providers, faculty, and administration regarding student health needs
  • Attend Academy events, including ceremonies, parades, and other school functions as required
  • Help maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all cadets
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School
Employment Requirements
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment
  • Ability to meet all employment eligibility requirements
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for Academy programs and events
