Alumni Outreach Committee
Fellow Alumni,
Welcome to a new age for Massanutten Military Academy. The Board of Trustees recognizes the importance of a diverse perspective, and they recognize the immeasurable value of our Academy’s alumni. As such, the Trustees have elected me to the Board to provide ideas in-line with a more youthful perspective. This move boldly demonstrates the Board of Trustees’ willingness to evolve and adapt in our fast-moving world. In true ‘Millennial’ fashion, I’ll make this short and sweet.
As the Alumni Liaison on the Board of Trustees, I will have FOUR main objectives:
- Serve as an effective voice of the alumni at large to the Board of Trustees. Your thoughts and plans for all alumni-related topics are ready to be heard! I will serve as the voice of the alumni during discussions with the Board of Trustees. Both the Board of Trustees and the alumni-at-large can trust me to bring great ideas from all directions that best reflect what the alumni as a whole want for the Academy.
- Increase alumni participation, networking, and involvement. Come back and see us! Visit the school, relive old memories, eat at the dining facility with the cadets, and take a tour to see how much has changed and how much is still the same. It doesn’t need to be Homecoming weekend or Founder›s Day weekend either; grab friends from your cadet days and make it a fun trip. Connect (or reconnect) with other grads and leverage our rich network potential.
- Re-define and bolster ‘alumni giving.’ You don’t need to have money to give back to the school. There are so many other ways to give back that demand low commitment, yet yield high rewards. I encourage any and all alumni who are interested in finding out how to give back to the Academy to get in touch with me so we can discuss unique ways to give our alma mater and her cadets an even brighter future. Your skills, time, and connections can help the school in more ways than you could ever know!
- Foster and sustain alumni legacy and traditions. Things like the Alumni Museum, the Hall of Fame, Homecoming, reunions, and other alumni events are here to stay. Our alumni are the lifeblood and soul of Massanutten Military Academy, and we intend to continue to honor them as we always have.
In closing, I have only this to say: The Alumni Council was dissolved this past Founder’s Day. In its stead, I intend to build a team called “The Alumni Outreach Committee”. Our goal will be to excel in all four areas mentioned above. Anyone is welcome to be as little or as much involved as they care to be.
