Academics
Our course catalog is carefully designed to balance giving cadets the opportunity to advance most academically while also exploring their interests. We offer specialized STEM courses that students can complete throughout their high school career, as well as the opportunity to start earning college credit as juniors and seniors. We also help cadets develop critical thinking skills and teach them how to apply for college, scholarship and jobs. Our classrooms are specially designed to optimize opportunities for hands-on learning. These choices will set your cadet up for success in any setting by making them comfortable figuring out solutions and guiding teams to a solution.
Community Service
As part of our commitment to character-building, every cadet must complete 25 hours of community service each year. MMA cadets play an integral role in staple events for the Shenandoah Valley, including WoodsTACO or Halloween on Courthouse Square. Our Corps also supports each other, serving as mentors and tutors for their peers. Our volunteer opportunities give teenagers a deeper understanding of the challenges others face while they also develop a strong sense of civic duty.
Cadet Leadership
Cadets earn their own opportunities to step forward as leaders at Massanutten. If they take the initiative, they can climb through the ranks and establish their own place as a mentor. Whether they want to serve on Corps staff, Company Staff or our esteemed Color Guard, the opportunities are waiting for them to grow and flourish. Cadets also showcase their victories with ribbons, medals and aiguillettes.
Army JROTC
The best leaders understand that integrity is the bedrock of leadership. One point of the JROTC creed is “I do not lie, cheat or steal and will always be accountable for my actions and deeds.” Having that self-discipline and self-confidence to know when you’ve made a mistake prepares your child for the challenges of adulthood. Cadets also learn to follow schedules, adhere to codes of conduct and meet expectations in all aspects.
