Massanutten Military Academy held its Graduation Ceremony Saturday, May 28th

It was a beautiful morning as the cadets, faculty and staff, and family and friends gathered on the Harrison Courtyard Lawn. The cadets were first congratulated by Mr. William Magruder, President of the Board of Trustees and Class of 1967 Alumnus. Valedictorian Junzhou Lin then stood to inspire the Class of 2016 to step outside their comfort zones.

Salutatorian Lance Phillips then introduced the commencement speaker Mr. Derek Thompson, a Story Artist for Pixar Animation Studios. For over 20 years, Mr. Thomas worked in comics, illustrations, videogames, and feature films. He used his life experience to pass along these important pieces of advice to the graduates: You never know where life will take you and don’t be afraid to try.

Head of School, Dr. David Skipper presented diplomas and delivered the graduate challenge to the twenty-five young men and women crossing the stage that morning and beginning the next stage of their journey. All of us here at Massanutten want to wish the Class of 2016 the best of luck in their future endeavors. Even though you’re no longer here, you’ll always be a Colonel.

We believe students should experience school as it should be, a place where children are educated in an environment that leads them to thrive and encourages their maximum potential.
