MMA held its first book fair in six years in coordination with Homecoming 2018 in the Spanier Library and Media Center. The cadets had many different genres of books to choose from including science fiction, young adult, and non-fiction. The fair also included other fun items such as bookmarks, pens and notepads, and posters.
Kevin Barb, coordinator of the book fair, set a goal of $650 in total sales. “Since it has been six years since MMA has hosted a book fair, I wasn’t sure what to expect regarding participation. I was pleasantly surprised that we nearly doubled our sales goal!” Barb continued, “We were also able to obtain 42 new books that cadets had picked out on their wish lists that we have now added to the school library due to our sales.” These books will be available to the cadets after Thanksgiving Furlough. With the success of the fall Book Fair, Massanutten Miltary Academy will be hosting a second Book Fair in the spring during Founder’s Day weekend. The tentative dates are April 10 through April 16, 2019.
