Playing a year of post-graduate basketball can open up an abundance of opportunities to advance your athletic career rather than heading right into college upon completion of your senior year of high school. Massanutten Military Academy recognizes that potential and the opportunities unfolding for PG cadets that are in the Post-Graduate Basketball program.
Not only does the PG basketball program offer the chance for increased academic success and off the court values but it also opens up chances for players to play basketball at the highest level. In fact, over 90% of players who have played a season under our head coach, Chad Myers, have gone on to earn a full scholarship at the next level. These students head off to top universities such as Kansas, Miami, Ole Miss, Florida State, Boston College and many more!
This year was similar to the past seasons under Coach Myers, as it was another record-breaking year! The MMA PG Basketball team finished the regular season 32-4. The team was one of 10 national teams invited to the Prep Circuit’s National Championship Tournament. Our PG team made it to the Final Four, which was a history making event at MMA! With such a successful season on and off the court, it is no surprise that the PG players will be headed onto play at the collegiate level next year. We thought we would share some recent achievements from the 2018-2019 roster and where they are headed to score next.
So far, we have had four players commit to major universities. Please join us in celebrating the following students:
- Dereon Seabron committed to NC State University
- Jarren McAllister signed to Virginia Commonwealth University
- Jarvis Vaughn committed to Monmouth University
- Brandon Suggs committed to East Carolina University
We are so proud of the work our team and coaches have put in all season long. These young men have been working for these goals for many years now and it is exciting to see their hard work pay off. Their commitment and dedication to the team and achieving success within their sport mirrors the commitment and dedication that MMA instills in all cadets in everything they do. PG Basketball provides not only a starting point for careers in basketball, but also can serve as an inspiration to other younger cadets to work hard and stay determined to accomplish your goals.
