Adventure was the Theme of the Weekend

On Saturday it was time for the cadets to gear up for paintball at Skyline Paintball & Laser Tag in Strasburg.
Skyline is comprised of three different fields: Urban Speed, Castle, and a wooded area. The kids rented their equipment and spent about four hours running around in the different environments. They had a blast!

On Sunday it was time for some white water rafting with River & Trail Outfitters in Knoxville, MD.  With 45 years of experience, their trained guides took our cadets down the mighty Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. The weather was perfect for going rafting as clouds helped shield the sun and kept the heat at bay. About halfway through this half day trip, they pulled their rafts over and enjoyed a quick lunch of fried chicken, potato salad, bug juice, and watermelon. During lunch, one of the guides spotted two bald eagles in the tree across the river. They were too far away for a good picture but the cadets could still identify them. They also learned about the history of the Shenandoah including a dam that helped fuel the Shenandoah Canal, and a brief history regarding Harpers Ferry.

In a few different calm spots along the river, the cadets were allowed to slip out of the raft, while still wearing their life vests and helmets, and go for a short swim. The river temperature was warm enough not to be a shock when the cadets got in but cool enough to enjoy.  I’m sure the JROTC and JCLC cadets had no issue getting back into the raft after that refreshing dip. All cadets returned smiling, happy, and soaked.

You know your child can do more but is not getting the attention needed in their current environment to reach their full potential. We know that choosing the right school for your child can be difficult because each child is so unique. We believe students should experience school as it should be, a place where children are educated in an environment that leads them to thrive and encourages their maximum potential.
