LET 2 Cadets Visit Arlington National Cemetery

Yesterday our LET 2 cadets traveled to Arlington National Cemetery.
Designated as a national cemetery on June 15, 1864, Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place for statesmen, spouses and family members of those already interred on the grounds, foreign servicemen and women, and United States servicemen and women from as early as the Civil War. Those who are buried here are laid to rest with full honors and the thanks of a grateful nation. Even those soldiers whose names are unknown are treated with the utmost respect and watched over by the Tomb Guard Sentinels, the elite of the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). More than just a cemetery, Arlington is a testament to courage, conviction, and sacrifice throughout the ages.

For the cadets at Massanutten Military Academy, however, there is more. As cadets, we form the Long Grey Line of MMA, each of us carrying on the legacy and teachings of this place. This, unlike other schools, creates a bond between the classes and the cadets. As a military academy, many of our cadets have joined the various armed forces and some have died in the service of our country and are interred at Arlington. Several of our employees also have relatives who were laid to rest in those fields. So, when we as a school visit Arlington National Cemetery, we are not just visiting history, we are also visiting our Massanutten family.

You know your child can do more but is not getting the attention needed in their current environment to reach their full potential. We know that choosing the right school for your child can be difficult because each child is so unique. We believe students should experience school as it should be, a place where children are educated in an environment that leads them to thrive and encourages their maximum potential.
