What Does it Mean to be "Recognized?"

When a student enters into the corps of cadets, they are considered a new cadet and given a white nametag.
New cadets (NCs) are also presented with the Cadet Handbook which outlines all of the regulations and expectations that govern our corps. NCs receive training to teach and train them in the customs and traditions of the Academy, the honor system, cadet regulations, individual drill, and other cadet knowledge. During this training, emphasis is placed on the development of courtesy, self-control, and prompt and willing response to competent authority.

To demonstrate their understanding, the NCs undergo a series of six tests. Once these tests are successfully completed, the cadet is called to the front of the corps and presented with a black name tag to show that they are now a recognized member of the Corps of Cadets. This recognition also comes with some bonuses.

As a recognized cadet, students can participate in town pass which allows them and a partner to go out into the approved areas in the town of Woodstock. However, the most important perk of being a recognized cadet for most is being allowed to have their phone during free time.

We strive to teach our students skills that will help them succeed in life after they leave the Academy walls and the lessons embraced during new cadet training do just that.

We believe students should experience school as it should be, a place where children are educated in an environment that leads them to thrive and encourages their maximum potential.
