JROTC and JCLC Attempted Land Navigation

JROTC and JCLC are in the field again.
Late last week, the cadets were introduced to Land Navigation. This course teaches the basics of map reading such as what the colors on the map mean, what contour lines represent, how the shapes of contour lines correspond to physical features in the terrain, and how to orient your map to be read properly among others. This also involves how to properly use an “old fashioned” compass and not the GPS on your phone.

After the classroom instruction and a practice run last Friday, the cadets were taken out into the George Washington National Forest to take their test. Then on Wednesday night, they ventured out into the darkness to put their newly acquired skills to use. All of the cadets found their way back home.

You know your child can do more but is not getting the attention needed in their current environment to reach their full potential. We know that choosing the right school for your child can be difficult because each child is so unique. We believe students should experience school as it should be, a place where children are educated in an environment that leads them to thrive and encourages their maximum potential.
