Small Boat Operations
Throughout this summer, our JROTC cadets and the JCLC (JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge) cadets will take part in activities which give them an opportunity to practice their leadership skills, team building, and adventure training.
This past week, the cadets took part in small boat operations on Lake Laura at the Bryce Resort. The cadets learned the proper way to enter and exit the boat, simple commands on how to operate the boat (rowing together, etc.), and took part in boat races up and down the lake.
However, the most fun is always had during the capsize drills. During these drills a boat is capsized and the cadets must flip them back over and get all of the members of their team back into the boat. This promotes both teamwork and leadership and a short dip in Lake Laura is always appreciated on a hot summer day.
