Non Nobis Solum, Not For Ourselves Alone

Non Nobis Solum is our motto here at Massanutten Military Academy. It means Not For Ourselves Alone, and we demonstrate that through our involvement in the Woodstock Community.
Our cadets often make themselves available for community service activities around town. Here are some of the events we've been involved in during the last school year:
  • Veteran's Appreciation Day at the Fairgrounds
    • Several of our cadets traveled to the fairgrounds during the first weeks of school to escort elderly veterans to the Veteran's Appreciation Day held at the Fairgrounds during the Shenandoah County Fair.
  • Red Cross Blood Drives
    • Once in the fall and once in the spring our JROTC department hosts a Red Cross Blood Drive. Our cadets volunteer to check people in, give blood, and sit with those who had just finished giving.
  • Pancake Breakfasts at St. John Bosco
    • During the school year, St. John Bosco Catholic Church hosts a pancake breakfast after mass. Several of our cadets attend the breakfast and stay to help serve and clean up after the event.
  • Halloween in Town Square
    • Every year the Town of Woodstock hosts "Halloween in Town Square." This event is held on a Saturday and is open to the whole Woodstock Community. Every year our cadets volunteer to help with the many available activities like mural painting, pumpkin carving, mask making, and, of course, face painting.
  • Day Care
    • The day care center associated with the Methodist Church will sometimes ask for our students to help with things like taking the students Trick-or-Treating to the local businesses or supervising during an Easter Egg Hunt.
  • Woodstock Holiday Homes Tour
    • Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, the Holiday Homes Tour gives people a chance to visit some of the historical homes in the area. Not only did our Head of School, Dr. David Skipper, open his home to the community, but our students served as tour guides for the property.
  • Visiting the Greenfield Nursing Home
    • Every year before Winter Furlough our students head to Greenfield, the local nursing home. Once there they share refreshments with the residents and often engage in some caroling.
  • Road Cleanup with the Rotary Club
    • Massanutten Military Academy is represented in the Rotary Club of Woodstock. As such, our students will often participate in community service projects such as the Rt. 11 Road Cleanup.
  • Catholic Outreach House
    • When the seasons change, the Catholic Outreach House associated with St. John Bosco Catholic Church needs to change out their inventory and our students are more than happy to help them and try on a few outfits themselves.
  • Woodstock Safety Day
    • Every year the Woodstock Police Department hosts a "Safety Day" for the elementary and middle school students in the local public schools. Our cadets are always happy to help out with the various booths.

You know your child can do more but is not getting the attention needed in their current environment to reach their full potential. We know that choosing the right school for your child can be difficult because each child is so unique. We believe students should experience school as it should be, a place where children are educated in an environment that leads them to thrive and encourages their maximum potential.
