MMA Hosts Best Raider Competition

On Monday the 24th of April Massanutten Military Academy hosted its’ annual Best Raider Challenge with our guest from Robert Land Academy. The event kicked off with the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) at 0500. 
The cadets then conducted a 36 hour Field Training exercise in the George Washington Nation Forest. The event is designed challenge the cadets both mentally and physically as well as test  their ability to function as a team. They must sustain themselves for an extended period of time and each cadet is evaluated on their leadership ability as they plan and conduct a variety task to be completed.
This years Best Raider was Cadet Ferri from Robert Land Academy.

0800       Depart MMA via truck to Camp Roosevelt
0900 – 1100         MMA cadets inserted on Duncan Hollow trail (conduct link up)
0930 - 1100          RLA cadets inserted on Gap creek trail. (conduct link up)
1100 -1130           MMA/RLA link up and movement to bivouac site (Gap Creek trail head just off Crisman Hollow Rd)
1130 – 0600         Continuous operations
                                                Set up helicopter landing zone (Day and Night)
                                                Locate cache
                                                Locate casualty, treat with first aid and return to camp
                                                Conduct boat training
                                                Conduct rope bridge training
                                                Conduct poncho raft training
                                                Field Craft (shelter, fire, water purification, terrain model)            
                                                Night Land navigation
TUESDAY 25 Apr
DAY 2
0600                       Vehicle movement to Lake Laura
0700       Conduct small boat operations
0800       Conduct poncho raft swim
0900       Vehicle movement to Narrow Passage
0945       Conduct one rope bridge river crossing
