Mr. Strong and Mr. Barb attended the 2018 Annual Conference of the Virginia Association of School Librarians (VAASL) in Williamsburg, VA. The conference theme was Gearing Up for the Future and showcased over 45 exhibitors such as Scholastic Book Fairs and Britannica Digital Learning. Mr. Strong and Mr. Barb presented to a group of 41 Librarians on how librarians can encourage students to use different sources for research beyond books and websites. The presentation was filled with personal experiences to show how to “think outside the box” for research and how to use guest speakers for living history experiences.
The VAASL is an annual conference that MMA has attended for many years. The conference features guest speakers from Virginia schools each year that speak on topics ranging from industry trends to using social media. The 2019 Annual Conference will be held in Roanoke, VA at The Hotel Roanoke.
