Two MMA cadets were selected to represent Woodstock, VA and MMA in the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Seminar) in Blacksburg, VA. The seminar is to recognize the leadership potential and achievements of young people. The cadets participated in speech competitions that implement the Four Way Test. The Four-Way Test is a standard of the things we think, say or do that is used by Rotarians all over the world that can be applicable to almost any other area of life. It is a moral code that is used for personal and business relationships.
The cadets enjoyed a weekend of meeting other Interact Club members and discussing ways to improve their schools and community. The highlight of the weekend was the opportunity to watch 150 High School students pack over 20,000 meals for the organization Rise against Hunger for Haiti. The youth and adults came together to work on packing up meals and to care for the International community.
Massanutten Military Academy is a Virginia Military School that teaches character development, superior academics and leadership training for grades 6 through 12. The RYLA is just one example of MMA students participating in hands-on group activities that support local and international communities.
