While many students view summer as a time to relax or take a break from school, the students at Massanutten Military Academy know that the summer is actually a great opportunity for them to further their education and gain knowledge and skills in specialized areas of interest. Massanutten offers a variety of program options including: Academic Summer School, JROTC Summer Program, STEM Summer Program, and ESL Summer Program.
The Academic Summer Program allows high school students to repeat core classes to make up for low or failing grades and take elective courses that can help them get ahead. Over the course of four weeks, students can repeat English, Math, History, and Science, as well as take elective courses including Art, SAT/ACT Prep, Study Skills, and STEM.
In addition to Academic Summer School, students are able to partake in programs focused on JROTC, ESL, or STEM. For students in grades 9-12, the JROTC Summer Program is designed to increase and refine cadets’ leadership skills and includes excursions to the river as well as the MMA’s Raider’s Course. The ESL Summer Program is open to students in grades 6-12 and allows them to learn English through the classroom setting as well as through interactive field trips. Two two-week camps will be offered to students in grades 6-12 designed to sample the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects of Biomedical, Computer Science, Energy & the Environment, Engineering, and Flight & Space.
All of the summer programs available at Massanutten Military Academy are an excellent chance for students to advance academically or hone in on special skills, without sacrificing fun times that accompany the summer months. In addition to the classroom setting, field trips and other adventures scheduled are trips to the pool, bowling, white water rafting, and more!
The various programs will begin on Saturday July 2nd, and although students can be accepted up to the start date, parents and students are encouraged to act quickly. For more information on registration and requirements, please click here or visit us online at www.militaryschool.com.
