Participating in team sports is an integral part of the experience at Massanutten Military Academy. Each season, our cadets are involved in a new athletic program to help them continue to grow in leadership, self-discipline, and teamwork. During the winter we offer the following sports for our cadets to join:
Basketball – We offer both boys and girls basketball programs. Our cadets play against many of the regional private and military schools.
Raiders – Raiders is a JROTC sport that challenges both male and female cadets to work together to overcome physical and intellectual challenges.
Rifle – The Massanutten Military Academy rifle team is part of the Virginia Military School Rifle League. This competitive team is made up of both girls and boys who are highly skilled and take great pride in their accomplishments.
Weightlifting – Our weightlifting program is designed to help cadets condition throughout the winter season. The program focuses on different aspects of conditioning such as strength and endurance.
Wrestling – At Massanutten, the wrestling program teaches both teamwork and individual sportsmanship. The Colonel’s wrestling team often has qualifiers for both state and national championships.
At Massanutten Military Academy, we strive to encourage and develop leadership within our cadets through everything they do on campus. We provide new opportunities for our student-athletes to lead through athletic participation. Our experienced coaching staff guides the cadets and mentors them become team leaders.
Through our athletic programs, our cadets learn the correlation between hard work, improvement and success. Discipline is not only crucial to success at MMA, it also helps cadets be successful in all their future endeavors.
