Wow, what a year 2016 was for Massanutten Military Academy! Last year, we grew and expanded in leaps and bounds, developing programs and helping them to flourish. As we reflect back on the year, we see many successes that would not have been made possible without the support of our donors for which we are incredibly grateful. Here are just a few of Massanutten’s highlights from 2016:
The Magnet Program – In 2016 we expanded our JROTC magnet program which allows local Central High School students to attend their JROTC classes here on campus with our skilled MMA instructors.
The Kilts – With the help of a generous alumni donation, our Pipes and Drums band was able to purchase kilts as a part of their official uniform. The cadets involved in the band were ecstatic and we are ready for competition season. Stay up-to-date with our band here.
New Film Room – The generous Sheetz family donated a new film room for our gymnasium this year. These donations help allow our student athletes effectively prepare for opponents and learn from previous games by watching footage captured throughout the event. Massanutten has sent a number of cadets off to play collegiate sports and this new film room is sure to help may more improve their skills and achieve their own dreams of post-MMA play.
Athletic Training Room – Alumnus Christopher Beaucham donated towards updating our athletic training room and beginning the rappel tower. This donation will help our athletic trainers better serve our students and expands our current JROTC offerings. In honor of the Beaucham family, the softball field now bears his mother’s name.
PG Basketball – 2016 also welcomed back our Post-Graduate Basketball program. Massanutten is built on integrity, courage, and respect. Our PG athletes learn these values both on and off the court through our superior educational experience and structured environment. Follow our PG Basketball team.
After bidding farewell to an exciting and successful 2016, we’re looking forward to all 2017 has in store for our faculty, cadets and alumni. We are eager to continue to grow as we help shape the next generation, preparing them to exceed their goals in the future. Some of our greater ambitions for the year are to complete the rappel tower, replace the sound system at Gordon D. Bowman Stadium, carpet the band room, and improve cadet transportation.
