Graduation Weekend Highlighted by Keynote Speaker Ron Maxwell

Graduation is a time of culmination, impartation, and celebration. The Massanutten Military Academy faculty and staff are thrilled to honor our 2017 graduates in their final days at our prestigious institution with an eventful graduation weekend. In addition, we are honored to have Ron Maxwell join us as this year’s keynote speaker.

Ron MaxwellRon Maxwell is a critically acclaimed author from Clifton, New Jersey. Born on January 5th, 1949 Maxwell is the son of a World War II veteran and a French War bride. He grew up a raving fan of history with a special interest in American identity. Maxwell attended NYU College of Arts and Sciences and NYU Graduate School of the Arts. Maxwell completed his graduate thesis in 1970, by writing and directing an adaptation of “The Guest” by Albert Camus. His first theatrical film titled “Little Darlings” debuted at number one on Variety’s Top Hundred Grossing Films. Maxwell’s most popular works were films “Gods and Generals,” and “Gettysburg” which is considered one of the greatest war films of all time. The film has sold millions of copies and currently boasts the all-time highest rating for a dramatic film on cable television. Ron is known for his cinematic rarity and authenticity. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Directors Guild of America, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

On Friday, May 26th, the school will host the academic awards, senior parade, and the senior barbeque between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Graduation rehearsal will be from 2-3 p.m. followed by Baccalaureate from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, May 27th, the Faculty/Senior breakfast will be from 8-9 a.m. followed by the senior picture at 9:15 a.m. Graduation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. culminating with the reception which will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

We are all incredibly proud of our graduating seniors as they embark on this next chapter. We look forward to following their successes and seeing what great achievements lie ahead for each of them. For additional information on graduation events, visit militaryschool.com.
