Cadets in Ms. Treese’s Introduction to Engineering class have been learning how to use dial calipers, a measurement device that measures up to .001 of an inch. The cadets had to find out the dimensions of pre-done blue prints for a gingerbread house then transfer it to cardboard and cut the pieces out. The end result were some creative gingerbread houses, the cadets being proficient in using and reading a dial caliper, and some fun decorating of their houses!
Massanutten Military Academy is one of Virginia’s premier military academies. The focus at MMA is on character development, leadership, and service to help students develop to their fullest potential. Classroom activities such as building gingerbread houses allow cadets to use the skills learned and think critically to complete a hands-on activity. If your student is interested in continuing their education at an institution focused on hand-on, experiential learning with small classes, please call our Admissions Department at 540-459-2167 or click here.
