MMA’s #4 nationally ranked PG team traveled to New Haven, CT for the National Prep Showcase, NPS, hosted at Albertus Magnus College by the New England Recruiting Report and Prep Circuit. The NPS is an invitation-only event that showcased all of the top ten nationally ranked teams. With all the talent represented at the NPS there was no surprise that over 100 college coaches and 12 NBA scouts were present throughout the weekend.
The Colonels took on St. Thomas More in game 1. With a strong performance out of Seabron, Suggs, McAllister and Spurlock, MMA took a 3-point lead into halftime. The Chancellors tried to stay in the game, however, the Colonels pulled away with a commanding 91-70 win.
Game 2 was an aggressive, top 5 matchup versus #3 Woodstock Academy. The Colonels battled back from a 9-point deficit to go into halftime trailing by only 2 points. MMA came out of halftime with a strong offensive effort but ultimately fell to Woodstock at the final buzzer. MMA closed out the road trip with a 1-1 record at the NPS.
MMA is now 6-2 on the year. The Colonels are back in Memorial Gym December 1-2 for the Holtzman Invitational featuring 2 preliminary games on Saturday and consolation and championship game on Sunday. The Colonels take the court at 5:00 pm on Saturday. A full schedule for the PG team can be found here.
