Massanutten Military Academy is a place for academics, sports, enrichment, tradition and fun! That’s right, while our mission is to prepare students for success through a structured, superior educational experience we still let loose and plan activities for our cadets to ensure they have a memorable experience at school. Here’s a look at how our cadets kicked off an action-packed fall.
Friday night, we held our annual senior night, a special evening honoring all the seniors that participate in a fall sport. We also closed out the 2016 football season with the final game of the year.
The agenda on Saturday was filled with activities, including the 1st Annual Drill Meet hosted by Massanutten Military Academy. Always eager to assist in the community, our cadets helped replace summer inventory with winter inventory as a part of the Catholic Outreach Community Service project. In the spirit of Halloween, our cadets also helped our town host their annual Halloween celebration on Court Square where they painted faces, put on temporary tattoos, painted pumpkins, and helped children color a monster mural. In addition, students interested in pursuing art in college had the chance to have their portfolios reviewed by major colleges at our Portfolio Day. Finally, the band and color guard participated in the Mummer’s Parade in Hagerstown, MD.
At MMA, we know holidays can make cadets a tad homesick which is why we plan exciting events to celebrate them. On Sunday, cadets were treated to a Halloween party complete with bobbing for apples and a costume contest in the Hayes Activity Center.
The fun spilled into Monday when all MMA juniors and seniors travelled to the Lord Fairfax Community College for a college fair. Before leaving, some cadets ventured to the local day care to bring children around town trick-or-treating.
From sporting events to holiday gatherings, we believe giving cadets the opportunity to enjoy settings that allow them to socialize and relax beyond the classroom is essential to a positive experience at MMA.
