The NHS honors the overall contributions of a student based on four pillars: character, leadership, scholarship, and service. Members of NHS are expected to be community leaders who not only have good grades, but are the first to volunteer to help local, regional, or national causes.
The National Honor Society was established in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). Today more than one million students around the world are members of the NHS family.
