MMA’s Interact Club attended the First Annual Rotary District 7570 Interact Conference in Blacksburg, VA. The students were welcomed by the District Governor George Karnes at the Skelton 4-H Center. The weekend was full of outdoor activities such as kayaking, a bonfire with s’mores, and the opportunity to make new friends from other Interact Clubs.
One of the highlights from the conference was a presentation on the projects that the Rotary has undertaken in the country of Ghana; for example, digging wells to allow the people of Ghana to have fresh water. At the end of our weekend, there was a service project to help clean up the local area. All of the participants worked together to complete the project. The weekend was not only fun and informative, but it was focused on the importance of serving others in the community.
