Throughout the summer months, when many schools close down, Massanutten Military Academy opens its doors to students from all over the world, inviting them to take advantage of the season and get ahead in their schooling. One of the camps offered during the summer is a specialized program solely based around the STEM curriculum. Massanutten offers two two-week sessions of this summer program for students in grades 6-12, and a full STEM course for students in grades 9-12.
The STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) camp gives students the opportunity to sample and explore subjects like: Biomedical, Computer Science, Energy & the Environment, Engineering, and Flight & Space. Students electing to take a full STEM course will choose which discipline they would like to explore more thoroughly. Our STEM summer programs provide a valuable educational experience for young students to gain a competitive advantage while living in a controlled environment. STEM pervades every part of the modern-day world and careers in STEM have become increasingly prevalent in the 21st century.
The STEM programs will stimulate critical thinking and enable next-generation innovators to tackle the challenges presented in such a highly technological society. Upon fulfillment of STEM Camp, students will receive a certificate of completion for their courses. The first camp will run from July 2nd – July 16th and the second from July 17th – July 30th. High school students enrolled in the STEM course are eligible to receive one elective credit and the course runs from July 2nd – July 30th.
