MMA offers the Nation’s first and one of the only Summer JROTC Programs
where students receive a full high school elective credit. During the five-week
program, students complete 180 hours of Leadership Education and Training (LET). This
year, MMA will offer JROTC first and second year (LET levels I and II). The
third year (LET III) may be added if
there is sufficient interest.
The LET courses provide a progressive leadership and
citizenship development program that is recognized for its excellence by the
United States service academies and the finest universities. Adding JROTC
leadership to a high school transcript sets a college applicant apart from other
high school students.
The Summer JROTC Program provides exceptional opportunities for young men and
young women to gain valuable experience learning to lead and learning to follow.
Program participants gain self-confidence as leaders and active team members.
The JROTC cadets become leaders in the summer Corps of Cadets, enabling them to
put what they learn into practice.
Cadets who return for the summer program each summer receive increased
leadership opportunities and responsibilities. Qualified cadets who complete all
four levels may receive nominations from the Academy to one of the service
academies or for ROTC scholarships.
The LET credit may be applied at MMA, at any other JROTC program, or as an
elective credit at most high schools.

Cadets new to the Academy may complete the New Cadet training and testing. The summer training and testing allows
cadets to return to the Academy in the fall with full privileges. Exceptional
summer cadets may even earn rank and be invited to the fall Cadet Leadership
Training in preparation for the school year.
