Academics at Massanutten:

Learning Success

Making the Dream of College a Reality

All of the graduating seniors of our recent classes were accepted by one or more colleges. A full-time Academic Advisor works with each cadet from the time of enrollment to plan his or her academic course work until the cadet is accepted at the college which is right for the cadet Each member of the faculty and staff is dedicated to seeing each cadet achieve academic success.

MMA's academic program concentrates on the core curricula to provide each cadet with a strong foundation in English, mathematics, social sciences, foreign language, and science. Small classes with a student-teacher ratio of 12:1 ensure that each cadet understands the concepts being taught and provides an environment for success.

Daily tutorials
are held each morning during which time cadets may return to their instructor to receive additional instruction or receive help completing homework. All cadets who have a D or an F in a course may attend this period.

An Academic Mentor, who is a member of the faculty, works with eight to ten cadets, to ensure they are doing well in in their academic, leadership, character, and physical development. Your cadet's mentor will keep in touch with parents via telephone, e-mail, and/or mail, keeping you up to date on your cadet's progress.

MMA exceeds the standards of learning set forth by the Commonwealth of Virginia. We use those standards to set a foundation on which to build a richer curriculum.
