Massanutten Military Academy encourages involvement and
sponsors Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 1899 because of
the close ties in values of the Academy and BSA. The
Academy's values of Courage, Industry, and Purity are
essential parts of being a Scout and living in accordance
with the Scout Oath and Law.
Troop 1899 at MMA started in 2004 and has grown in
popularity in a short 3 years. Several cadets worked
and earned their Eagle Scout Award and many others have started
Scouting while enrolled at MMA. Current Scouts
enrolled with another troop may also enroll in Troop 1899 to
help build experience, leadership and participation.
The only requirement of a new Scout is that they are 12
years old and in the 7th grade. Troop 1899 meets once
a week on Wednesday evenings to discuss and plan upcoming
activities and service projects.
