How to Get to the Academy

By Car

From Washington, D.C. Take Interstate 66 west to where it ends at Interstate 81. Turn south on Interstate 81 toward Roanoke. Go 17 miles to exit 283.

From Richmond, VA. Take Interstate 64 west to Interstate 81. Go north toward Winchester. Get off at exit 283.

From Roanoke, VA, and points south. Take Interstate 81 north to exit 283.

From Charlotte, NC, and points south. Take Interstate 77 north into Virginia and turn north on Interstate 81. Get off at exit 283.

From Winchester, VA, Martinsburg, WV, Hagerstown, MD, and points north. Take Interstate 81 south toward Roanoke, VA. Get off at Virginia exit 283.

When You Reach Exit 283 (Woodstock exit) off Interstate 81. If traveling north, turn right or if traveling south, turn left onto Rt. 42 East (Reservoir Road). Travel past the fast food area and down a small hill. At the bottom of the hill is an intersection with a stoplight and Rite Aid Drug Store. Turn left onto Route 11 North (Main Street). Travel approximately 3/4 mile. You will then see our football stadium to your left and then Memorial Gymnasium just past the stadium. Enter the campus at the South Entrance. Prospective cadets and parents go to the Admissions Office on the second floor of Benchoff Hall. Other visitors go to the Commandant's Office on the first floor.

By Air

The campus is easily accessible by air from Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C., (70 miles) and Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) in Baltimore (130 miles).

Parents' Guide to the Valley

Located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, MMA offers an environment that fosters the values-based growth and development of responsible young people. The quaint 250-year-old town of Woodstock provides a close-knit atmosphere that reinforces the cadets� behavior as local shopkeepers often call the Academy President to praise a well-behaved cadet or to report a cadet who misbehaves. Using the buddy system, Cadets in good standing are allowed to walk to the downtown area where they can enjoy the local movie theater, several sit-down and fast food restaurants, a skating rink, bowling alley, and mini-golf/entertainment center. Visit the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce.
