College Placement Counseling
A Service That Works
100% of Class of the Last Four Classes Received a College Acceptances
The College Placement Officer offers counseling
on career exploration and planning, college and financial aid
searches and application assistance as well as consultation with
parents, academic mentor, faculty, and administration. The
College Placement Officer works for the Academic Dean.
Scholarship search results can be overwhelming. Weekly
Scholarship Alert e-mails 1 to 5 scholarship notices each week to
parents and college bound students so that they get a gentle
reminder to find college money. There is no charge and Weekly
Scholarship Alert does not gather personal information beyond name
and e-mail address. Go to

The College Placement Officer assists cadets in their search for a
service academy or college or university with ROTC by doing the
following:

Select a university or academy and obtain
application and materials.

Open a file at each service academy (contact
the admissions office to start file)

Review requirements and determine eligibility
and acceptance probability
-
Fill out draft applications/review applications
and rework as needed

Work with applicant on interview techniques and
develop appropriate responses
-
Work with applicant on draft essay questions
for scholarship applications
-
Letter to congressman ref nomination process
-
Determine congressional district and
congressional requirements
-
Make initial contact with congressman/woman's
service academy rep
-
Work up requirements and work with applicant to
meet them
-
Schedule interviews with representative's
committees as needed
-
Work with parents to ensure that they are doing
their part
-
Schedule SATs
-
Finalize and make application
-
Follow up with application, congressman's rep,
applicant, and parents
-
Placement officer and cadet also work with MMA
staff members who also have responsibilities in this process.
